Schools considering Academy route

Two secondary schools in South Gloucestershire are considering becoming federated Academies.

The Ridings High School in Winterbourne and King Edmund Community School said coming together would improve standards and benefit the community.

South Gloucestershire Council is to consider the proposal on Monday.

If the council gives its approval, a six-month feasability study and public consultation would have to be undertaken.

If the two schools became Federated Academies, they would form a single Trust and Governing Body under one head teacher, but would operate as two separate schools.
